This client was in the process of starting a business for accessories and crafts made in Colorado. They chose the name 53 Peaks because there are 53 fourteener mountain hikes within the state.
To start, I put together a mood board for the client. As the name was based on a popular outdoor activity, I focused on finding images of clothing, crafts, and lifestyle that would match the Colorado aesthetic I felt would fit best for the name of the business. After the client approved of the mood board, I made a few sketches and experimented with different layouts and typefaces based off of the parameters the client had given.
After a few revisions, I had decided to try out the idea of a patch. The roundness of the background shape enhanced the design by contrasting against the rigidity of the mountain silhouette. From here, I played with a few different gradients and color schemes.
The client ended up going with the blue and black logo, liking that it pulled inspiration from the clear blue skies and rugged mountain-scapes of Colorado.
